黄石市民网上免费领养宠物狗遭骗1400元：警方介入调查
在湖北省黄石市，一名女大学生因轻信网络上的免费领养宠物狗信息， ultimately fell victim to a scam of over 1400 yuan. The incident has drawn the attention of local authorities, who are now investigating the case.
According to reports, on April 30th, the student, Ms. Xiaoyan (a pseudonym), saw an online advertisement for free pet dog adoption and was immediately interested. She contacted a QQ account claiming to be from an "Animal Love Center" and was shown pictures and videos of various breeds.
Ms. Xiaoyan chose a small Tibetan Mastiff puppy and agreed to pay 68 yuan for transportation costs via Alipay. However, she was subsequently asked to pay an additional 400 yuan as a vaccination deposit with the promise of reimbursement in one week's time.
On May 2nd, Ms. Xiaoyan received a text message from a courier service stating that her puppy had arrived at their central hub in Hubei Province but required payment for delivery fees (400 yuan) and kennel fees (100 yuan). Her trust in the situation led her to transfer these funds as well.
After making these payments without receiving any further communication or updates about her puppy's whereabouts or well-being, Ms. Xiaoyan began suspecting foul play when she realized that both parties had deleted their respective contact information on QQ – leaving her no way to inquire about her lost investment.
The police were promptly notified by Ms. Xiaoyan herself before taking action against this potential fraud scheme involving unsuspecting victims like herself seeking companionship through internet advertisements.
