So in essence, while mother cats may appear to develop "cheeks" due to their increased size over time, it is not the same as the distinct facial features of male cats which are influenced by hormones and serve as a form of intimidation or dominance display. The apparent difference between these two is that the "cheeks" on male cats are composed of muscle tissue whereas those on larger female cats are primarily fat deposits.
